  1. Further Information

  3. The Citizen Print Manager has been designed in conjunction 
  4. with Irseesoft and has many of the features of Turbo Print 
  5. Professional .The Print Manager will work with V1.2 Workbench 
  6. and upwards. The Citizen version allows you to obtain the 
  7. superb prints that you have seen tailored to suit the Citizen 
  8. range of products . Citizen has chosen the defaults so that 
  9. you do not need to make any changes except to tell the 
  10. program which  printer you have connected. If you do wish to 
  11. experiment a short description of the functions is given below.

  15. The Citizen Print Manager has 5 main screens which are 
  16. selected via icons on the right hand side of the screen.
  17. These are from left to right , top to bottom
  18.

  25. Each of the items in the menus is now described in more 
  26. detail:

  28. 1. Printer
  29.  
  30. This menu contains 5 items:
  31.  
  32. Printer Drivers:
  33.  
  34. This sections is used to select the printer that is to be 
  35. used ,the resolution that is     required for the print out 
  36. to be printed at.
  37.  
  38. The slider should be used to move the list of printers 
  39. up and down until the required Citizen printer that you 
  40. have is shown.
  41.  
  42. Click on the required printer name and the possible 
  43. graphics resolutions are shown in the boxes below "Gap 
  44. correction".
  45.  
  46. Click on the required graphics resolution. These are 
  47. indicated as across and down. The first resolution 
  48. being the horizontal and the second the vertical in 
  49. dots per inch.

  51. Line Gap:
  52.  
  53. The Line gap is for adjusting the line feed increment 
  54. should each line in the print out have a white line or 
  55. loverlapping dots. This should rarely need to be used.

  57. Pattern:
  58.  
  59. The Amiga can depict 4096 different colours but the 
  60. printer only has a colour ribbon with 4 colours. The 
  61. 4096 different colours can be produced on the printer 
  62. by mixing and arranging them in suitable pattrens. The 
  63. Citizen print manager provides the following patterns.
  64.  
  65.    Norm:       Standard Pattern
  66.    H-T:        Half Tone Pattern
  67.    4,8,12      Other Patterns
  68.    9 pin:
  69.    FS I:       Floyd Steinberg I
  70.    FS II:      Floyd Steinberg II
  71.  
  72. Citizen recommend that for prints that are artistic in 
  73. nature i.e with lots of curves the FS I or II is selected. 
  74. For prints that have lots of straight lines use the 
  75. 4,8,12. Try them and see which is the best.

  77. The other patterns that are grayed are available by 
  78. purchasing the full version of Turbo Print from your 
  79. dealer.

  81. Print Type:
  82.  
  83. This is not used for the PROjet but only for the dot 
  84. matrix printers.This controls the number of pins that 
  85. are used in each pass.This reduces the amount of 
  86. banding or strips that you see across the page and 
  87. produces a better print.

  89.     Normal Mode uses all 24 pins
  90.     Lower Mode uses 18 pins
  91.     Half Line Mode uses 12 pins
  92.

  94. Half line mode produces the best output but uses up 
  95. the ribbon quicker than the others.

  97. Aspect Ratio:
  98.  
  99. This changes the height & width of a pixel based on 
  100. 320x200.

  102. 2. Preferences
  103.  
  104. This menu screen contains a number of functions that can 
  105. usually be set by using the Workbench preferences , however 
  106. they are given here to speed up your selection process. If you 
  107. want your application to use the settings set here and not in 
  108. Workbench preferences then set the "Setting of " button to 
  109. "Print Manager".

  111. Shade:
  112.  
  113. Colour:
  114. This setting produces Colour output and should be used 
  115. only with a Colour option     with your printer.
  116.  
  117. Grey:
  118. Colour prints are turned to different shades of 
  119. grey.This is recommended for the PROjet or when using 
  120. a Black ribbon only.

  122. B/W:
  123.  
  124. Prints are printed in black and white only.

  126. Negative:
  127.  
  128. This can be used with any of the shade selection above 
  129. and reverses the colours printed.
  130.  
  131. Landscape:
  132.  
  133. This prints the picture rotated on the page by 90 
  134. degrees clockwise.

  136. Smoothing:
  137.  
  138. The Citizen print manager considerably improves the quality 
  139. of the output by smoothing the curves. There are 3 levels of 
  140. smoothing , OFF I and II , II is by far the best and should be 
  141. used at all times.

  143. Printer Port:
  144.  
  145. The Citizen print manager supports the standard PARallel and 
  146. SERial ports. However a special high speed port can be used 
  147. PAR 2 which  transfers information directly to the Parallel 
  148. interface without using the "parallel.device" device driver.

  151. Setting the Print Format:
  152.  
  153. The picture format decides on the dimensions of the print 
  154. out. The "Left offset" can be set to add a left margin to the 
  155. printout ,or the picture can be "Centered" .The picture format 
  156. options are :

  158. Ignore:
  159.  
  160. The Width & height boxes at the bottom are  ignored.
  161. The printer prints to the largest size possible on the 
  162. paper size defined in the Text settings section while 
  163. maintaining the aspect ratio..

  165. Bounded:
  166.  
  167. The printout size is determined by the Width & Height
  168. boxes in Inches or CM which ever is set in the values 
  169. box.The printout is printed to the largest size
  170. possible within these limits keeping the correct
  171. aspect ratio.

  173. Absolute:
  174.  
  175. The printout size is determined by the Width & Height
  176. boxes in Inches or CM or Pixels  which ever is set in 
  177. the values box.The     printout is printed to the largest 
  178. size possible within these limits ignoring the aspect 
  179. ratio.

  181. Multiply:
  182.  
  183. The width & height of the printout become a multiple
  184. of the screen graphic size. i.e one  screen dot equals 
  185. one printer dot.

  188. 3. Additional Functions
  189.  
  190. This menu screen contains mostly greyed or not available 
  191. functions that are ouside the requirement of a printer driver. 
  192. Therefore to be able to use these functions a program can be 
  193. purchased called Turbo Print Professional from your Amiga 
  194. dealer.

  196. The functions that are available are:
  197.  
  198. Copies:
  199.  
  200. If you wish to print out multiple copies of a print then a
  201. number can be entered into the box. Some applications do not 
  202. send a form feed to feed the paper out of the printer at the 
  203. end of every page therefore an option is available to force the 
  204. form feed "FF". If you wish for the printer to wait at the end 
  205. of every page then use the wait key.

  207. PM Resident:
  208.  
  209. Selecting  "ON" reset proofs  the Citizen print manager
  210. Selecting  "OFF" means that a soft reset will delete the print 
  211. manager .

  213. Top Offset:
  214.  
  215. Some times you may require when printing multiple pages to
  216. adjust the gap between them . This function adds a number of 
  217. line feeds.
  218.  
  219. 4. Colour Correction
  220.  
  221. The Citizen print manager produces colour output to a very 
  222. high standard and we have chosen the best possible default 
  223. values for this for you, so you should not need to adjust any 
  224. settings.However should you wish to they are defined below
  225.  
  226. Black Print:
  227.  
  228. Selecting "EXTRA" prints a very intense black, like a double
  229. strike.
  230.  
  231. Colour Separation:
  232.  
  233. This function allows you to divide the print out into its
  234. primary colours for use in offset printing.
  235.  
  236. Gamma Correction:
  237.  
  238. This adjusts the brightness of the colours on the page.
  239.  
  240. Colour Correction:
  241. This adjusts the colour between the screen and the printer 
  242. ribbon.MATRIX I only corrects for the printers ribbon but 
  243. MATRIX II corrects for both the screen and the ribbon thus 
  244. giving better output.
  245.  
  246. Note: The graphs at the bottom of the screen cannot be
  247. changed in this version. A full version of Turbo Print
  248. Professional does allow further modification of colour settings.

  250. 5. Text Format
  251.  
  252. In this section you can set values for use with text printing 
  253. only. These are as follows:
  254.  
  255.     Paper size:
  256.     Narrow carriage printer or Wide Carriage 
  257.     Cut sheet (Single) or Fanfold (Tractor)
  258.     Pitch
  259.     Quality
  260.     Line spacing
  261.  
  262. The Standard font and Text colour functions are not available.
