- Further Information
-
- The Citizen Print Manager has been designed in conjunction
- with Irseesoft and has many of the features of Turbo Print
- Professional .The Print Manager will work with V1.2 Workbench
- and upwards. The Citizen version allows you to obtain the
- superb prints that you have seen tailored to suit the Citizen
- range of products . Citizen has chosen the defaults so that
- you do not need to make any changes except to tell the
- program which printer you have connected. If you do wish to
- experiment a short description of the functions is given below.
-
-
-
- The Citizen Print Manager has 5 main screens which are
- selected via icons on the right hand side of the screen.
- These are from left to right , top to bottom
-
-
- 1. Printer 2. Preferences
- 3. Additional Functions 4. Colour Conversion
- 5. Text settings
-
-
- Each of the items in the menus is now described in more
- detail:
-
- 1. Printer
-
- This menu contains 5 items:
-
- Printer Drivers:
-
- This sections is used to select the printer that is to be
- used ,the resolution that is required for the print out
- to be printed at.
-
- The slider should be used to move the list of printers
- up and down until the required Citizen printer that you
- have is shown.
-
- Click on the required printer name and the possible
- graphics resolutions are shown in the boxes below "Gap
- correction".
-
- Click on the required graphics resolution. These are
- indicated as across and down. The first resolution
- being the horizontal and the second the vertical in
- dots per inch.
-
- Line Gap:
-
- The Line gap is for adjusting the line feed increment
- should each line in the print out have a white line or
- loverlapping dots. This should rarely need to be used.
-
- Pattern:
-
- The Amiga can depict 4096 different colours but the
- printer only has a colour ribbon with 4 colours. The
- 4096 different colours can be produced on the printer
- by mixing and arranging them in suitable pattrens. The
- Citizen print manager provides the following patterns.
-
- Norm: Standard Pattern
- H-T: Half Tone Pattern
- 4,8,12 Other Patterns
- 9 pin:
- FS I: Floyd Steinberg I
- FS II: Floyd Steinberg II
-
- Citizen recommend that for prints that are artistic in
- nature i.e with lots of curves the FS I or II is selected.
- For prints that have lots of straight lines use the
- 4,8,12. Try them and see which is the best.
-
- The other patterns that are grayed are available by
- purchasing the full version of Turbo Print from your
- dealer.
-
- Print Type:
-
- This is not used for the PROjet but only for the dot
- matrix printers. This controls the number of pins that
- are used in each pass. This reduces the amount of
- banding or strips that you see across the page and
- produces a better print.
-
- Normal Mode uses all 24 pins
- Lower Mode uses 18 pins
- Half Line Mode uses 12 pins
-
-
- Half line mode produces the best output but uses up
- the ribbon quicker than the others.
-
- Aspect Ratio:
-
- This changes the height & width of a pixel based on
- 320x200.
-
- 2. Preferences
-
- This menu screen contains a number of functions that can
- usually be set by using the Workbench preferences , however
- they are given here to speed up your selection process. If you
- want your application to use the settings set here and not in
- Workbench preferences then set the "Setting of " button to
- "Print Manager".
-
- Shade:
-
- Colour:
- This setting produces Colour output and should be used
- only with a Colour option with your printer.
-
- Grey:
- Colour prints are turned to different shades of
- grey. This is recommended for the PROjet or when using
- a Black ribbon only.
-
- B/W:
-
- Prints are printed in black and white only.
-
- Negative:
-
- This can be used with any of the shade selection above
- and reverses the colours printed.
-
- Landscape:
-
- This prints the picture rotated on the page by 90
- degrees clockwise.
-
- Smoothing:
-
- The Citizen print manager considerably improves the quality
- of the output by smoothing the curves. There are 3 levels of
- smoothing , OFF I and II , II is by far the best and should be
- used at all times.
-
- Printer Port:
-
- The Citizen print manager supports the standard PARallel and
- SERial ports. However a special high speed port can be used
- PAR 2 which transfers information directly to the Parallel
- interface without using the "parallel.device" device driver.
-
-
- Setting the Print Format:
-
- The picture format decides on the dimensions of the print
- out. The "Left offset" can be set to add a left margin to the
- printout ,or the picture can be "Centered" .The picture format
- options are :
-
- Ignore:
-
- The Width & height boxes at the bottom are ignored.
- The printer prints to the largest size possible on the
- paper size defined in the Text settings section while
- maintaining the aspect ratio..
-
- Bounded:
-
- The printout size is determined by the Width & Height
- boxes in Inches or CM which ever is set in the values
- box.The printout is printed to the largest size
- possible within these limits keeping the correct
- aspect ratio.
-
- Absolute:
-
- The printout size is determined by the Width & Height
- boxes in Inches or CM or Pixels which ever is set in
- the values box.The printout is printed to the largest
- size possible within these limits ignoring the aspect
- ratio.
-
- Multiply:
-
- The width & height of the printout become a multiple
- of the screen graphic size. i.e one screen dot equals
- one printer dot.
-
-
- 3. Additional Functions
-
- This menu screen contains mostly greyed or not available
- functions that are ouside the requirement of a printer driver.
- Therefore to be able to use these functions a program can be
- purchased called Turbo Print Professional from your Amiga
- dealer.
-
- The functions that are available are:
-
- Copies:
-
- If you wish to print out multiple copies of a print then a
- number can be entered into the box. Some applications do not
- send a form feed to feed the paper out of the printer at the
- end of every page therefore an option is available to force the
- form feed "FF". If you wish for the printer to wait at the end
- of every page then use the wait key.
-
- PM Resident:
-
- Selecting "ON" reset proofs the Citizen print manager
- Selecting "OFF" means that a soft reset will delete the print
- manager .
-
- Top Offset:
-
- Some times you may require when printing multiple pages to
- adjust the gap between them . This function adds a number of
- line feeds.
-
- 4. Colour Correction
-
- The Citizen print manager produces colour output to a very
- high standard and we have chosen the best possible default
- values for this for you, so you should not need to adjust any
- settings. However should you wish to they are defined below
-
- Black Print:
-
- Selecting "EXTRA" prints a very intense black, like a double
- strike.
-
- Colour Separation:
-
- This function allows you to divide the print out into its
- primary colours for use in offset printing.
-
- Gamma Correction:
-
- This adjusts the brightness of the colours on the page.
-
- Colour Correction:
- This adjusts the colour between the screen and the printer
- ribbon.MATRIX I only corrects for the printers ribbon but
- MATRIX II corrects for both the screen and the ribbon thus
- giving better output.
-
- Note: The graphs at the bottom of the screen cannot be
- changed in this version. A full version of Turbo Print
- Professional does allow further modification of colour settings.
-
- 5. Text Format
-
- In this section you can set values for use with text printing
- only. These are as follows:
-
- Paper size:
- Narrow carriage printer or Wide Carriage
- Cut sheet (Single) or Fanfold (Tractor)
- Pitch
- Quality
- Line spacing
-
- The Standard font and Text colour functions are not available.
